MAY 5, 2020 | #GivingTuesdayNow

One day, one goal:
to give / help / thank / heal – together.

Together FDL is a collaboration of nonprofits that have come together to help the community survive this crisis and ignite the power of philanthropy as part of the new global day: #GivingTuesdayNow.

Together, we feed, heal, shelter, educate, develop, nurture, and inspire people of every age, gender, race, and socioeconomic status.

Together FDL Leadership Supporters

“These nonprofits are facing obstacles and disruptions to their missions, and in response, they have entered a collaboration to support the community as a whole. Their drive and quick response will help sustain the essential services provided by these nonprofits amid economic strain and increasing demand. Now more than ever we need to come together as a community to support the efforts of our nonprofits, and we’re proud to support Together FDL. To help your donations go even further on ‘Giving Tuesday Now,’ Verve is matching donations, up to $10,000.”

Why Our Approach

Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 to bring together a global network of philanthropic individuals and progressive communities – to give back in a variety of ways. In 2019, this global day of giving generated $2 billion in the United States alone and sparked the power of 200 community campaigns.

Despite “social distancing,” we come together to support our neighbors, our essential workers, our local businesses, our communities and our world. Nonprofits and healthcare systems are an integral part of the community. The financial and social impacts of COVID-19 are threatening our ability to do the work that our community has relied upon for hundreds of years.

“Nonprofit organizations play an intricate role in assessing community needs and using their mission to serve the common good. Your gift to Giving Tuesday Now supports our local nonprofits and ensures a strong community driven by a collaborative mindset.”

“Our community has a history of creative collaboration and strong partnerships. Together FDL is one more example of how people here come together to serve where, and when, it’s needed most. Our willingness to unite for the greater good makes me very proud to be a member of this community.”

Frequently asked

questions.

I’m an individual who’s been affected by COVID-19. Can this Fund help me?

We understand many individuals and families have been affected by the outbreak already and more will continue to be affected. While the Together FDL is not able to provide grants to individuals, this initiative will provide funding to twelve (12) collaborating nonprofit organizations who provide a variety of programs and services to support individuals.

My organization is interested in joining this initiative. Can we be considered?

The COVID-19 pandemic is impacting nonprofits in many ways – including increased demand for services, facility closures, events and programs canceled, and fundraisers postponed or canceled.

All executive directors/leaders of Fond du Lac area nonprofits were invited to a Zoom discussion held on April 20, 2020. Funding needs were discussed on that call and action came swiftly with invitations to each nonprofit to participate as a Collaborating Organizations in the May 5 Community Giving Tuesday Now Campaign. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was created and did have a deadline of 5:00pm on Monday, April 27, 2020.

If you are interested in being part of the Together FDL Giving Tuesday, Dec 1, 2020 initiative, please contact Sophia Partners. We welcome all. Together, we can make a difference.

I want to donate. Can I restrict my funding to a prioritized nonprofit?

The intent of this collaboration is to both tell the story about the impact on nonprofits in the Fond du Lac community, as well as raise dollars to provide immediate relief from the financial burdens within the Collaborating Organizations.  The Together FDL website will collect donations from April 28, 2020 through May 15, 2020.  All donations collected during this period will be equally divided amongst Collaborating Organizations who signed the MOU by April 27, 2020 (unless they opt out of receiving funds).

Should I give to this Fund instead of making other donations?

This Fund was not created to be the only vehicle to provide funding of critical community activities during this outbreak. If Together FDL aligns with your giving priorities at this time, please consider making a donation. However, this is a critical time for so many, including nonprofit organizations who’ve benefited from your giving in the past, as well as our local hospital.

Please continue to give to organizations you regularly support, and those that need your help at this crucial time. Knowing the depth and scale of the long term ramifications of this outbreak, now is the time to double down for our community. We are stronger together.

Is there a fee to contribute?

With a focus on getting resources out to the community in this critical time, there is no administrative fee for participating in Together FDL. 100% of donations will go to the Collaborating Organizations with the exception of a credit card processing fee for online donations. Gifts can also be mailed to Together FDL ℅ Sophia Transformative Leadership Partners at PO Box 1251 – Fond du Lac, WI  54936-1251.
